Installation of the photovoltaic system on the roof of our production facility in Granollers

A few years ago Menzolit started the challenging mission to become a more environmentally friendly and sustainable organisation. By the end of 2019 we celebrated the achievement of 100% of our energy consumption at the Granollers’ site coming from renewable resources, helping to reduce our carbon emissions to atmosphere. Today we are happy to announce a further step in our mission by successfully completing the project to install a photovoltaic system on the roof of our production facility in Granollers (Barcelona). The system is composed of 714 solar panels covering a total surface area of >1500m2, this array of panels will generate 332 kWh per year of energy. The 35% of the total energy consumption of the Granoller’s site will be auto-generated, avoiding the annual emission of 165tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, which is equivalent to the planting of >1.000 trees.

In order to further advance in our mission for greater sustainability we are developing new “greener” SMC grades, a summary on the progress of these developments will be posted shortly.
